Cabin refurbishment

New seat base and headrest in white leather on the trim bench: button-tufted squab, Malibu script embroidered into the headrest face.

The cabin was taken out to the airframe.

Seating, soft goods, headliner, sidewalls and cabinetry were rebuilt in diamond-quilted hide over new foam profiles. The aircraft name is embroidered into the headrests.

Twenty years of use. Yellowed hide, collapsed foam, a headliner coming away at the seams.

To the airframe

Everything out. The green is zinc chromate primer on bare structure, and it is the only honest place to start again.

The cabin stripped back to structure: bare green zinc-chromate airframe and floor beams exposed below the window line, seats, carpet and lower sidewalls removed, ducting loose.
Refit in progress: foil-faced insulation blankets pinned to the fuselage frames below the cabin window, new headliner and window reveal already fitted above.
New seats refitted in the cabin, still shrink-wrapped, looking forward past the seat backs to the flight deck; floor and sill protected with covers during install.
The original seats stripped out and stacked on the workshop bench: old foam squabs, bare seat pans and backs, new white leather sections wrapped in film alongside.
